The Office of Posts and Telecommunications (OPT-NC), France's designated operator for New Caledonia, wishes to update other Union member countries and their designated operators on the evolving situation.

OPT-NC has resumed postal activities and is able to dispatch and receive international postal items. Consequently, the case of force majeure has been closed with effect from 16 July 2024.

However, the current situation is still impacting the expected quality of service for domestic and international postal items (letter post, parcel post, EMS), with OPT-NC continuing to experience delivery difficulties in certain unsecured areas of the territory. Road traffic is still being disrupted at random intervals. For international traffic, flight frequencies and airline capacities are still not back to pre-crisis levels. Lastly, the customer service unit is up and running again, and is doing its best to meet deadlines despite a much heavier workload than normal.
