Further to EmIS messages EmIS 156/2024 and169/2024, the designated operator of the United States of America, the United States Postal Service (USPS), would like to update all Union member countries and their designated operators regarding the current status of postal operations in the areas recently affected by hurricanes. The majority of postal operations have returned to normal with effect from 29 October 2024. However, postal operations continue to be disrupted in the following postcode areas: 27006–28909 (North Carolina) 38501–38589 (Tennessee) 30401–30999 and 31501–31699 (Georgia) 33501–34997 (Florida) Therefore, the USPS declaration of force majeure (in effect until further notice) continues to apply to the above-listed areas, and covers USPS service and performance obligations for letter post (P, G and E format), parcels and EMS. Recovery and clean-up for communities in these areas is still ongoing and expected to be lengthy. USPS will update its declared force majeure situation as conditions in these areas improve.
